Spelling
Spelling:
All spelling patterns and words for Y6 will be taught at school. We learn about:
rules for adding suffixes,
ie/ei
silent letters
-ible and -able
sh spelt: ti, ci, si or ssi (confidential, special, tension, mission)
plural nouns - adding -es (foxes, tomatoes), -ies (families) and -ves (knives) and rule breakers (sheep, woman>women, mice, people, children, geese...)
Alongside spelling patters are the Y6 statutory words, all of which are listed below. Children should be able to spell all of these by the end of the year. Practicing little and often is the best method!
