Welcome back to Ruby Class!
We are so looking forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 8th March 2021!
It has certainly been a strange start to the year for us all and I want to thank you, again, for your continued hard work in supporting your child's learning at home. You have all done a fantastic job during these difficult times and I have been so impressed with all of the work I have received.
We are so happy that the school is reopening to all children on Monday 8th March 2021. On our return to school, the routine will be very similar to how it was last term. I have outlined some of the main details for you below (as last term feels a very long time ago!). Of course, if you have any questions that I have not addressed below please don't hesitate to contact me using the class email address email@example.com. I know that the return to school will be an anxious time for you and your child, but please be assured that you can contact me with any questions, queries or concerns that you may have. Our first few weeks will focus on ensuring the children get used to being back in school and into their new routine. We have lots of sessions focused on wellbeing and supporting the children in rebuilding their relationships with friends. Our main priority is ensuring the children feel safe and happy to be back!
This leaflet has lots of useful information on how to support your child's return to school...
Our PE days will continue to be on a Wednesday and Thursday.
As before, please send your child to school in their PE kit on these days (this should be a white t-shirt with shorts/joggers and trainers/pumps). We ask that you ensure your child's PE kit is weather appropriate. As we approach the summer months, you may also wish to send in a sun hat for your child along with some sun cream. Please make sure these have your child's name on!
Reading Diaries and Books
Reading Diaries will continue to be sent home each Monday and should be returned to school each Friday.
We will be assessing each child's book band over the first two weeks back, with a view to send books home on Monday 22nd March 2021.
Your child will be provided with two books to read at home during the week. Over the weekend, please make use of our online reading programme 'Rising Stars'. I have assigned children a selection of books, appropriate to their reading level, along with a comprehension quiz for each book. You can access 'Rising Stars' at www.my.risingstars-uk.com. Pupil's usernames and passwords are at the front of their Reading Diaries and the Centre ID is 168239. Further information on how to support your child's reading is available in the 'Homework' section on our Class Page.
As Reading Diaries are not in school every day, please make use of our class email to get in touch with me or to pass on any messages. This will be checked each morning at 8.30am before school starts.
Homework will recommence once the children have settled back into school, with more details being sent to you over the next few weeks. In the meantime, please continue to support your child's learning at home through reading, spelling and phonics. Please click on the 'Homework' link on our 'Class Page' for lots of information and resources on how to do this.
Spelling tests will recommence on Monday 15th March. We will begin by recapping each unit.
All children should bring in their own water bottle each day with their name on. Please do not send in juice or fizzy drinks.
Milk and toast is available at morning break and must be ordered and paid for in advance. If you would like to order snack for your child please get in touch with the school office. If your child does not wish to have milk or toast, they can bring in a healthy snack. We also have fresh fruit available in the classroom throughout the day.
