Science
Autumn Term
Children will learn about animals including humans. We will be labelling basic body parts and identifying, comparing and describing a variety of common animals such as fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds. We will also be learning about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.
Spring Term
In Spring term, children will be learning about a variety of everyday materials. We will be distinguishing between objects and the material that they are made from and naming a variety of everyday materials including glass, rock, plastic, wood, metal and water. We will be describing the physical characteristics of different materials and comparing and grouping materials based on their characteristics.
Children will also be learning about seasonal changes and observing and describing changes across the four seasons.
Summer Term
In summer term, children will be learning about plants. We will identify and name a variety of wild and garden plants, including evergreen and deciduous trees. We will describe the basic structure of flowering plants and trees.
