Congratulations to our certificate winners this week...
Erdem, Henry, Olivia R and William
And a special Happy Birthday to Isla!
This week, we have started to plan our own stories about Hansel and Gretel! We each created a setting description and then created a brand new character to join our story! Take a look at some of our work...
In Maths, we have been practicing counting forwards and backwards and have even begun to do simple addition and subtraction by working out 'one more' and 'one less' than any number.
In Phonics, we are continuing our recap of Phase 3 sounds and have focused on blending these sounds together to read any word! We had lots of fun playing a silly sentence quiz! Can a moth sing a song? Can a chicken be the king?
As part of our 'Home Sweet Home' topic this week, we conducted a science experiment to find out which material is the strongest- wood or rock. Which material do you think was the strongest?
We have also begun to explore the history of different homes and the class chose to focus on castles! We have had lots of fun doing research about castles. Do you know who lived in a castle? Do you know why they were built on a hill? What is a battlement?
Ruby Class know all the answers! Why not ask your child to share their new learning with you?
Take a look at some of our pictures...
We will finish labelling these next week and add a description!
