Wednesday 6th January

Challenge of the day!

Name and draw some things that begin with 't'.

Please note that we will be recapping Phase 2 and Phase 3 phonics for the first part of this term. I will try to do this in different ways using Twinkl and the good old internet!! If your child is confident with reading the sounds in these words then please help them to write them using correct letter formation! This will be the beginnings of them learning to spell!

Rhyming words - your child should be able to read all of the words in the first part of the game. Please help them to read the sentences at the end to say the missing rhyming word.

The English Alphabet | Zed | Jack Hartmann

The English Alphabet by Jack Hartmann teaches the 26 letters of the English language and their letter sounds. Each letter shows the upper and lower case letter, Jack says their letters sounds and gives two examples of words that start with the beginning letter sound for each letter.

Tricky Words and Sight Words Song

Although New Years Eve celebrations will have been more low key this year this is still a good time to introduce the children to the concept of time and learning about reading the o'clock time.

Rosie and Jim: Big Ben

Rosie and Jim have always been a big favourite of mine! Enjoy watching this video together and talking about London being the capital city of England and some of its landmarks.
Challenge - can you find London on a map of England?

I have realised that the clock collage activity might be a bit tricky if you haven't got an Argos catalogue, magazines or similiar around the house so do the talking points and then talk with your child about clocks being analogue or digital, look for some around the home, take photos or draw/paint/make your own clock pictures!!

The new year is a time for making resolutions about something that you might like to learn or get better at!  Watch this video where Douglas talks to us about making an extra effort in the New Year.

My New Year's Resolution | It's going to take COMMITMENT and PERSEVERANCE

Douglas Talks about his new year's resolution and how it's going to take a lot of commitment and perseverance!Happy New Year!

Challenge - Now talk to your child and discuss their ideas for a New Years resolution. Draw a picture of them doing it and write a simple sentence.
