Hello everyone!

Hope you are all well and staying safe at home!

I hope you are enjoying finding out all about dinosaurs. Raaaaahhhhh!!

Mrs McAvan's Assembly on Hope

Click on the link below to listen to this week's assembly from our Head teacher.

Challenge of the day!

How many spiky things can you find in your home?

We are continuing with Phase 4 of our Phonics learning.

If your child can recognise most of all the Phase 2/3 sounds and read the Phase 2 and 3 tricky words then they are ready for Phase 4.

If you feel that your child still needs more practise with Phase2/3 please re-visit the previous weeks learning and try some other games on the suggested websites on our front class page.

It's very important to keep practising our phonemes and tricky words in different ways.

Practise makes better! Play the games below. Have fun!

Kim at Espresso is going to help us to practise reading CCVC words.

You say this sentence and your child writes it down. Look out for tricky words and sound out each word.

The  spoon  is  in  the  cup.

Challenge 1 - if your child can write this sentence easily add in some describing words e.g. The wooden spoon is in the cup.

Challenge 2 - Can they write another sentence about the spoon or cup?

I can count reliably 1-20

Fun activity

Draw a big dinosaur footprint. You could chalk it on the ground or draw it on a big piece of paper/newspaper...the bigger the better!

Now draw around your foot on a piece of card and cut it out. How many of your feet are as long as the dinosaur foot print?

I can write words to complete simple sentences.

Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs - Give Us A Story

He found out all of the names in a   _______________.

The dinosaurs had a  __________.

Harry  lost  the dinosaurs on  a  ____________.

book,  junk,  sink,  bath,  chair,  train

Challenge - can you copy 2 of the sentences?

I can talk about my observations about animals and start to understand the past.

Watch this super little Espresso film all about dinosaurs.

I can follow instructions and make marks to draw a dinosaur.

How To Draw A Dinosaur With Shapes

Here's another fun art project to do with your super young artists, how to draw a dinosaur with shapes. In this lesson we add small shapes together to make a dinosaur. Can your child name the shapes?
