Wednesday 21st April

Hello everyone!

smiley

Hope you are all well.

Challenge of the day!

smiley

Draw 5 things that you would see on your way to school.

Phonics

We are now learning Phase 5 phonics!

The children will now be learning that the same sound can be made from different letters e.g. 'ai'  'ay'.

We will still be  consolidating Phase 4 of our Phonics learning.

Your child should recognise all the Phase 2, 3 and 4 tricky words and please still practise recognising digraphs/trigraphs within words. They should also be able to say letter names out of order.

If you feel that your child still needs more practise with Phase2/3 please re-visit the previous weeks learning and try some other games on the suggested websites on our front class page.

The ABC Song

It's the classic ABC song with uppercase and lowercase letters. Arranged and performed by A.J. Jenkins.

Phonics Phase 3 Sounds for Pronunciation

This video will help you with the recognition and pronunciation of the phase 3 sounds.

Phase 3 Phonics Tricky Words | Sight reading

Learn to sight read tricky words. Tricky words are words that cannot be sounded out; they cannot be blended. This is a video to revise some of the phase three tricky words (he, she, me, we and be), as taught through Letters and Sounds. The words are used within sentences to help give them meaning.

Ash is going to help us to learn the next new 'ai' sound. This is a split digraph a-e. The vowels are split by a consonant letter.

Play this spelling game with Ash.

You say this sentence and your child writes it down. Look out for tricky words and sound out each word.

You  can  play  a  game  in the  garden.

Challenge 1 - if your child can write this sentence easily add in some describing words e.g. on the grass in the garden...

Challenge 2 - Can they write another sentence about a game?

Maths

I can count in 2s to 100

Count by 2 | Dancing 2's | Skip Counting by 2 | Count to 100 | Educational Songs | Jack Hartmann

Dancing 2's is a fun way for kids to learn to skip count by 2. Children follow me doing different dances as we count to 100 by 2. Every time we hit a place holder of tens we change dances.

Challenge 1 - Can you splat the squares and count in 2s for the odd numbers?

e.g. 1, 3, 5, 7 etc.

Challenge 2 - Can you write the numbers for counting in 2s from the odd and even numbers.

English

I can use my phonics to write a simple sentence.

Watch the story of 'The Tiny Seed' by Eric Carle again.

Draw a picture and write a sentence about your favourite part of the story.

Challenge 2 - Can you write another 2 sentences about the story?

Music

I can learn and recite a poem.

A Little Seed by Mabel Watts - Children's Poem

A Little Seed is a seasonal children's poem by the children's author Mabel Watts. The poem sometime goes by the title May Time Magic.
This rhyme is the perfect way to teach young children about how plants and flowers grow, with the video showing a cute illustrated seed growing into a flower.

Science

I can sequence the growing sequence of a potato.
