Tuesday 2nd March

Good Morning Ruby Class!

Welcome to a brand new day of home learning. Today, we have another fantastic topic lesson which you will need to get outside in the sunshine for!

Let's begin by reading Chapter Twelve of our class story 'The Enchanted Wood' by Enid Blyton...

Chapter Twelve

...Come back tomorrow for the next chapter!

Learning Objective: I can count in 2s.

Today, we are going to continue looking at counting in 2s. To begin, I would like you to recap counting in 2s out loud, up to 50. You can do this using your number grid from yesterday's lesson. How fast can you count?! When you have finished, watch this video from White Rose Maths...

02.03.21 - Count in 2s

This is the school's 'Calculation Policy' to support this week's learning in Maths. We are particularly focusing on the 'counting in multiples' column this week.

Use your knowledge of counting in 2s to solve the problems on this Activity Sheet.

Parents: Don't forget that these worksheets include lots of great questions and helpful tips to help support and extend your child's learning at home.

Learning Objective: I am learning information about Malala Yousafzai and her life.

Yesterday, we came up with some questions that we would like to find the answer to about Malala Yousafzai and her life. Remember, Malala wrote the autobiography 'Malala's Magic Pencil' which is our whole-school focus text. Today, we are going to begin by answering our questions! Watch this video to find out more!

Malala Yousafzai

Activity One

Using the information you have learnt in today's lesson, write an answer to each question that you came up with yesterday!

If you are still unsure about the answer to one of your questions, how can you find out? I have included a video and some helpful website where you can do your own research about Malala Yousafzai. If you still can't find the answer, it may be useful to ask an adult or sibling for help! Or email your question over to me and we can find out the answer together.

Activity Two

Write a list of additional facts about Malala that you found interesting and that you would like to include in your information text about Malala Yousafzai tomorrow. These facts do not have to be in full sentences.

Learning Objective: I am learning about sound families.

In Phonics, we have been learning about sound families. Today we are focusing on the ‘ng’ sound family. Let’s take a look...

Complete the activity sheet below by finding and writing the 'ng' and 'nk' words. There are three difficulties to choose from. Why not challenge yourself?

Learning Objective: I am learning about Christianity.

Today, we are continuing our whole-school Christianity learning which is being led by Mrs Hill. To find out what we are doing today, follow this link...

Learning Objective: I can identify and name some deciduous and evergreen trees.

Today's topic lesson is all about trees! Watch this video to find out more...

Terrific Trees

Activity One

For our first activity today, I would like you to go on a tree hunt! For this, you will need to use the 'Tree Hunt Activity Sheet'...

...once you have finished your tree hunt, head back to the video to watch the second half of the lesson. There is then another activity for you to complete.

Activity Two

Look carefully at the leaves in the sorting cards, below. Using your knowledge, sort these leaves into the two categories- deciduous and evergreen leaves.

You don't need to print the cards off, you can just look at them on the screen. Zoom in to look at them even closer!

Just for fun...

Use some of the leaves that you have collected and turn them into art by painting on them! You could also use felt-tips. You can create anything using leaves- you could draw a pattern on them or even turn them into minibeasts! Here are some examples...
