Hello everyone!

smiley

Hope you are all well and enjoying the sunny weather!

Challenge of the day!

smiley

Draw 5 things that happen in the spring time.

Phonics

We are now learning Phase 5 phonics!

The children will now be learning that the same sound can be made from different letters e.g. 'ai'  'ay'.

We will still be  consolidating Phase 4 of our Phonics learning.

Your child should recognise all the Phase 2, 3 and 4 tricky words and please still practise recognising digraphs/trigraphs within words. They should also be able to say letter names out of order.

If you feel that your child still needs more practise with Phase2/3 please re-visit the previous weeks learning and try some other games on the suggested websites on our front class page.

Learning Letter Sounds | Version 2 | Alphabet Song for Kids | Phonics for Kids | Jack Hartmann

This phonics song teaches children the alphabet and the beginning letter sounds. Kids learn phonics and letter recognition while singing and having fun.

Phonics Phase 2 and 3 sounds

Phase 2 and 3 sounds with spoken sounds - encourage your child to do the action for each sound as well.

Tricky Words (Blue Level) Jolly Phonics

Help your kids learn these tricky words and their usage in sentences from this animated video. It also has some lovely little life lessons!

This 'ai' sound is usually found in the middle of words and this 'ay' sound is usually found at the end of words. Play these Espresso games to see if this is usually true!

Phonics ai and ay words. Sounds Great 5: Unit 1

This video was made to help kids learn basic Phonics. It features 'ai' and 'ay' words.

You say this sentence and your child writes it down. Look out for tricky words and sound out each word.

The  train  will  go  on  the track.

Challenge 1 - if your child can write this sentence easily add in some describing words e.g. The fast train...

Challenge 2 - Can they write another sentence about a train?

Maths

I can sort odd and even numbers.

Make some number cards to 30.  Mix them up. Sort the cards into odd and even numbers. Remember to look at the last digit to see if it is an odd or even number!
