Last week I asked you to write a list of your own ten commandments. Did you manage to follow any? Was it difficult?
Why are Christians called Christians?
Christians get their name from Jesus Christ who is God's son.
What do Christians believe?
Christians believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of God and that:
Christians believe that Jesus was the Messiah promised in the Old Testament
Christians believe that there is only one God, but that this one God consists of 3 "persons"
Christians believe that God made the world.
Where do Christians worship?
The Christian place of worship is called a Church. They are often built in the shape of a cross with the altar facing east towards the rising sun.
The Christian spiritual leaders are called priests or ministers. (vicars).
What is Christian worship like?
Christian worship involves praising God in music, speech, readings from scripture, prayers of various sorts, a sermon and various holy ceremonies.
Take this virtual tour of St. Georges Cathedral in London. It has been a place of Christian worship for more than 1,000 years, but a cathedral only since the creation of the diocese of Southwark in 1905. Between 1106 and 1538 it was the church of an Augustinian priory, Southwark Priory.
Your task this week is to draw your own birds eye view of a church or cathedral and label all the important parts such as:
pew, vestry, lectern, pulpit, candle, alter etc..
Our Daily Bread for Kids
365 meaningful moments with God.
Each week I'm going to be posting a page from the above book.
Here's one for this week.
Last week I asked you to keep a food and exercise diary of what you ate and did.
This week we are going to look at what the word balance means. In terms of lifestyle what might we mean by balance? e.g activity, inactivity, diet.
We are going to be focussing on a balanced diet this week.
Click on the link below and using your food diary from last week tick off any of the things that are on the healthy eating plate that you have eaten.
Using the template below, or you can draw your own plate, transfer the items from your food diary to the template/plate.
Now, compare plates. What do you notice that is the same and what is different?
What changes could you make to your diet? Do you think you have a balanced diet?
