What a fantastic start we have had in Ruby Class!
Congratulations to EVERYONE for being awarded a certificate this week for all your hard work!
Happy Birthday to Eliza and Millie!
This week, we have started to explore our first topic 'Home Sweet Home'. We have created some fantastic pictures of our own houses and added sentences to describe them! We can now name all of the features of a house and the materials which they are made from. We even went on a material hunt in school to find out what each materials looks like and feels like! We have linked our topic across the curriculum and in Maths used 2D and 3D shapes to build different houses!
We have made the most of the sunshine this week and taken our learning outside as much as possible, creating animal houses outside in our woodland area.
In English, we have been working really hard on our sentences, making sure we are using Capital Letters and full stops. We have also begun to leave cursive handwriting! The whole class are really enjoying it!
We have loved reading our whole school focus text 'The Tear Thief' this week! We predicted what the story would be about using the illustration from the front cover. Then, we used vocabulary from the story to imagine what the main character would look like! Do you know why the Tear Thief collects tears? We have come up with some great ideas in class! From making toys to creating star dust.
What do you think?
Just a reminder that reading diaries and books will be sent home on a Monday and should not be returned to school until Friday. Now that book bands have been updated, your child will be given one book on a Monday, then be allocated one book on 'Rising Stars' at the weekend. When reading with your child, you can support their comprehension by asking questions about the text, vocabulary and by encouraging them to retell you the story. More information on how to support your child's reading will be sent out over the coming weeks.
Finally, I would just like to thank each of you for all of your support over the last week! As always, if you have any questions, queries or concerns please don't hesitate to speak to me or get in touch on our new class email address email@example.com.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the sunshine!
