Monday 8th June

Good morning everyone!  I am sure it is going to be a very different day for some of us today returning to Nursery and getting used to a different way of playing with our friends.  We will be there to help you every step of the way just like we will be for those children still learning from home.  Remember we are all in this together whether we are in Nursery or at home and we are proud of each and every one of you.

This week we are going to looking at 'Being healthy and keeping safe' so this will be everything from what we eat to how we keep fit to how we safely cross the road and Monday being P.E. day is a great place start by looking after our heart!

Have a fantastic week everyone, keep staying safe!

Big hugs

You have probably heard of Joe Wicks and today we are going to do a 5 minute workout with him.  Before you start I will like you to see if you can feel your heart beating.  When you finish the workout see if it beats faster or slower - what do you think is happening to your heart while you are exercising?

Great for all ages but aimed primarily at Key Stage 1 40 seconds work | 20 seconds rest Marching On The Spot Star Jumps Low Sprint Shuffle Squats Climb The Rope

For our 'Cool' activities this week we will be looking at size and for our 'Hot' activities we will be looking at time.  You will see a progression through the week.  It is worth recapping each day with your child before moving on.

'Cool' activity - we are starting with height and working on learning the terms tallest and smallest.  Find 5 toys that are significantly different in height and see if you can put them in order.  Then if you have lego bricks try measuring how tall each one is in lego bricks.  Which toy is the tallest, which is the smallest?

'Hot' activity -have a look at the powerpoint below about sorting things into day or night.  There is also a worksheet if you are able to print or you could just look at pictures on the screen and discuss.

Listen to the story 'Eat your peas'.

'Cool' activity - I wonder if there is a food you really don't like?  I don't like broad beans!  Can you draw a plate shape and then fill half with things you really like and half with things you don't like - if you don;t want to draw you could just talk about it.

'Hot' activity - do the same as the cool activity but at the bottom I would like you to try and finish the sentence:

I don't like ...... (see if you can sound out the word and maybe even try writing some of the letters).

Then have a go at the activity below to practice blending sounds.
