Homework

Each week, homework is given out on a Wednesday and expected to be completed by the following Monday.

Expectations Each Week:

* Practise your weekly spellings (tested on Mondays).

* Read at least 3 times a week and record it in your diary.

* One Maths piece (see this week's below).

* One English piece (see below).

 

Optional:

*Times Tables Rock Stars

This week there is no homework on MyMaths or in books.

Please practise your times tables and work on telling the time to the nearest minute on an analogue clock. There is a sheet here if you want to use it but you can also do it by practising throughout the day.

Maths: This week's maths homework is on MyMaths and is a an introduction to decimal numbers. 

English: For your English homework, I would like you to plan your persuasive brochure ready to write on Monday. There is a sheet in your Homework Book.

Maths: This week's maths homework is on MyMaths and is a recap of using money.

English: For your English homework, there is a spelling and grammar mat in your homework book. I have also included a bank of useful vocabulary to help you to complete this.

We have not set any English or Maths homework for over the Easter holidays. We would, however, ask that you continue to read at least three times a week.

 

We have also sent home an envelope for 'Bob-a-Job' for you to earn some money completing various jobs around the house. Please record the jobs you've managed to complete, along with the total earned on the front. All envelopes need to be returned to Mrs Hales during the week beginning Monday 25th April. 

All money raised will go towards the forthcoming class trip total.

Maths: This week's maths homework is on MyMaths and called 'Finding Fractions'. You may wish to draw a bar model or use counters to help you (like we have done in class). 

English: For your English homework, we would like you to find your favourite poem and copy it out in your neatest handwriting for our class anthology.

Maths: This week, your homework on MyMaths is called 'Modelling equivalent and non-equivalent fractions'.

English: This week, we would like you to you to plan for your ‘free writing’ session next Friday (1st April). This could be a story, non-chronological report about something that interests you, a poem, a diary entry, a newspaper report etc. Make sure you are prepared and ready to write!

We haven't set any homework this week, as we would like the children to use their time over half-term to catch up on any MyMaths tasks they have not yet completed.  We have also informed children if they need to revise any spelling units, as these will be tested when the children return on Tuesday 1st March.

At the start of the Autumn term, the children were set a project to be completing at home. This is based on our topics ‘North America’ and ‘Dragons’. The children are encouraged to choose how they wish to present their home project and can range from using ICT skills, to creating models or even comic strips; whatever engages you. These are due to be brought into school during the first week back after the half-term holiday.

Maths: There is a task set on MyMaths: Rounding to 10 and 100.
