Good Morning Ruby Class!
Congratulations! You have made it through another week of home learning! You have only got one week to go before half term, so keep up the hard work! First of all, we need to find out what we are doing today... and don't forget that I have an exciting announcement about our new class story...
Remember to send you 'book vote' over to me at email@example.com
You can choose between... 'Danny the Champion of the World' by Roald Dahl or 'The Enchanted Wood' by Enid Blyton. Please get these over to me before the end of today so we can begin our new book on Monday!
Learning Objective: I am learning about emotional wellbeing.
As you know, we will be focusing on our wellbeing each Friday morning. We have already looked at some techniques to support wellbeing, such as mindfulness and relaxation. Today, we are going to take a closer look at what we mean by 'wellbeing' and how we can support our mental health by expressing our self! Find out more here...
Just for fun... let's play the Squiggle Game!
You will need a pencil and some paper. When you are ready, watch this video...
Express yourself! Follow this video to draw how you are feeling today...
Learning Objective: I understand related facts.
Today, we will be continuing our learning on subtraction by looking at related facts. What do you think we mean by related facts? Find out more in this video from White Rose Maths...
Complete the worksheet below using related facts.
Parents: Remember, these worksheets include lots of helpful tips and questions to support and extend your child's learning at home.
Learning Objective: I can write a character description.
As you know, in our story 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers, the boy thought the penguin was lost! He went to the lost and found office, but no one was missing a penguin!
Today, we are going to imagine that somebody WAS missing a penguin... you!
You are going to create a missing poster for the penguin!
For this lesson, you will need your character description from yesterday! Once you are ready, watch this video to find out how you are going to do this...
Use your character description, from yesterday's lesson, to create a missing poster for the penguin. Follow the same process that I have used in the video. Remember to include a picture of the penguin! You can use this template to help you, if you wish...
Learning Objective: I am learning about alternative spellings and pronunciations ('wh' as 'w').
Today, we will continue our learning on alternative spellings and pronunciations. We will be focusing on 'wh' as 'w'. Watch this video with Geraldine the Giraffe to find out more...
Practice reading 'w' and 'wh' sounds using these flashcards. Then choose three words and write each of these in a sentence. Remember to make sure that you spell each word correctly, using the correct 'w' spelling, and that you read each of your sentences out loud.
Practice reading and differentiating between real and nonsense words that contain the 'wh' spelling by reading each of the words out loud. Then fill in your key with a different colour for real and nonsense words and colour each word in correctly!
