We are learning Phase 2 phonics and tricky words. These short sounds are called phonemes. Please can you practise saying these phonemes with your child.   Thank you.

Please practise hearing (these sounds at the beginning, the middle or end of words:

Challenge - can your child read these words?

Tricky words. These are look and say words. They cannot be sounded out!

Please help your child to remember these tricky words by sight:

Jack Hartmann's Count to 20 and Workout will have you counting to 20 as you engage your body and brain and workout as you count. Do a new set of exercises for each time you count from 1 to 20. Count along with Jack and have fun exercising your body and brain while counting to 20.

You will need number cards 1 to 10. You can easily make your own.

  • Put the cards face down on the table.
  • Choose a card, turn it over and say the number.
  • Drag and count those many counters onto the frame.
  • Clear the frame to have another go!

Science

Inspired by the Goldilocks story we looked around the classroom for things that are soft or hard and sorted them into 2 sets.

Challenge - Have a look around your home and see if your child can identify things that are hard or soft.

You could put a photo on Tapestry to show us!
