Life in all its fullness

Friday 14th January

When reading with your child please ask them to use their 'pointy' finger to point under each word as they read. Clear pointing under each word for voice-print match helps young readers learn to look at the printed word as they are learning about directional movement. They begin to understand the one-to-one match between speech and printed language. It also helps you to see which word they are trying to read. Please encourage them to do this every time they read with you. As they progress they will eventually be able to take the finger away.
