St John's CE (VC) Primary School

Life in all its fullness

Emerald Class - Nursery

We are looked after in Nursery by Mrs Stone, Mrs Clews and Mrs Hawkins-Farrow.

A very big welcome to all our returning children and all our new children in Emerald Class!

Our class is full of lots of exciting opportunities to try different activities and experiences so that we can learn how to play alongside our friends, find our confidence, learn how to enjoy different physical activities and how to listen and communicate.

Things might be a little bit different in the 'Big Wide World' this year but we will always be a welcoming family at our Nursery and make your child's journey to 'big school' the best it can be!

Each week we will add some pictures of what we have been learning.  If you would like to see what is coming up then please see the Half-Term planning overview at the bottom of the page.

What have we been busy doing....

Over this half-term we have been busy on our topic all about 'The Wonderful World of Julia Donaldson'.  We have made Gruffalo plate faces, 'Squashed and squeezed' fruit, made a giant Zog the dragon and mixed 'Room on the Broom' potions.

We will be finishing off our half-term with lots of activities to do with the Platinum Jubilee and a picnic lunch.

So far this term we have learnt S, A, T, P, I, N, M, D, G, O, C, K, CK, E, U.  We are now practising blending these sounds to make words.  Practice at home will help your child as will using their reading book to increase vocabulary and comprehension.

How to get involved

Parents and carers are a really important part of our Nursery life and we encourage everyone to get involved where they can.

Tapestry - this is the on-line Learning Journey we use for recording observations of the children but it is also a tool for parents to use at home.  You will have access to Tapestry and be able to upload your own pictures from home so that we can hear all about their experiences outside of Nursery.

Some fabulous memories of 2021
