Welcome to Year 2
Check out Rosie’s sunflower! It’s growing brilliantly…
Hello and welcome to Year 2 from Mr Rogalski and Mrs Meredith! During the first few weeks of term we will be doing lots of fun activities so we can get to know you all really well. The class routines will be different to usual but hopefully we will adjust these as time goes on.
Below I have outlined some of the routines we have in class. As I mentioned, these are different to how things would usually work so we may have to make a few changes here and there! I will keep you informed of any changes made. You have been sent a welcome letter via email but I have attached it below for future reference.
If you have any questions or need to communicate anything to us regarding your child at any point, please use the class email address. email@example.com
Class Routines for 2020-2021
For the first few weeks of term we will be recapping Y1 spellings and introducing new Y2 words. Your child will receive their Y2 Spelling Log after half term. If you wish to complete some recap work at home, the Y1 spelling list is in the 'Homework' section below.
Once the class have settled back in, homework will alternate between Maths and English each week with the occasional topic-based piece. This will be set under the 'Homework' section of the class page on a Thursday and will be due the following Thursday. Homework will be online-based, where possible, but a photograph of any written pieces can be sent to the class email address.
In Year 2 children are required to know the 2, 5 and 10 times tables well. There will be short checks on these each Tuesday. Again, this won't begin until children are fully settled into school and we will make you aware with this will begin.
P.E days are Monday and Wednesday. Please send your child in their P.E kit (white t-shirt, joggers, trainers/pumps) on these days.
As a result of measures in place, diaries will be sent home on a Monday with 2 reading books. Diaries and books are then to be returned on the Friday. If you wish to access a book over the weekend, please make use of our Rising Stars online reading programme that you should have received details about last term. https://my.risingstars-uk.com/Default.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call or email. You are always welcome!
MyMaths.co.uk is a great resource to help children with their maths skills. It has lots of fun lessons and games which are often set as homework but feel free to have a go at any activity of your choice. You can also retry activities as the questions are different each time!
