Hello and welcome to Year 2 from Mrs Butler and Mrs Meredith!
Below I have outlined some of the routines we have in class.
If you have any questions or need to communicate anything to us regarding your child at any point, please use the class email address. email@example.com
Your child will receive their spelling log at the end of the first week of the year. We will practise each set of spellings for two weeks and have a short test on these words each Monday. Spelling scores will be sent home in the spelling logs. Any children who are still struggling with a set of words after two weeks will receive further support on these words in school. The spelling logs can be found on the class webpage in the spelling tab.
Once the class have settled back in, homework will alternate between Maths and English each week with the occasional topic-based piece. This will be given to them in their homework books on a Thursday. Homework may sometimes be set on MyMaths (https://www.mymaths.co.uk/). Your child's log in details for this can be found in the front of their diaries.
In Year 2 children are required to know the 2, 5 and 10 times tables well. There will be short checks on these each Wednesday. Again, this won't begin until children are fully settled into school and we will make you aware with this will begin.
P.E days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please send your child in their P.E kit (white t-shirt, joggers, trainers/pumps) on these days.
Please send in diaries and reading books everyday so that we can hear children read and log this in their diaries. Reading books will be changed once per week on a Monday.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call or email. You are always welcome!
MyMaths.co.uk is a great resource to help children with their maths skills. It has lots of fun lessons and games which are often set as homework but feel free to have a go at any activity of your choice. You can also retry activities as the questions are different each time!

If you have lost your log in, let Mrs Butler know. Log in details are also in the front of your child's diary.
